Articles on detailed explanation of bannings/unbannings:
Keeping Time in Round:
We suggest each playing keep time to avoid conflicts, each player needs to have clear communication about the time left in the round, and if there are any interruptions in game play (judge call, disconnect, etc) for each players to pause their timer.
ADDING A DESIGNATED SIDEBOARD STRATAGEM SLOT:
Stratagems were a unique and dynamic mechanic added to the game in WotC’s Wave 5 release: Titan Masters Attack and expanded on by each subsequent ATP release. At the time of introduction, Organized Play at that time did not update sideboard construction rules around this brand new card type.
The ever-growing influence of Stratagems across different metagames, along with the increasing weight of each battle card slot in a competitor’s sideboard, call for an update to this--we believe.
Previously, sideboard looked like the below, regardless of format:
Going forward, for each Alpha Trion series event (unless otherwise stated), sideboard construction will have the below skeleton, regardless of format:
SETTING AN UPPER TIME LIMIT FOR SIDEBOARDING:
No player may spend more than 3 minutes or 180 seconds sideboarding between games. Below is the standard flow of sideboarding:
If 3 minutes from the above Step 1 have passed and a player or players are still in the midst of the above Step 5, they must immediately cease sideboarding and present their legal battle deck. If a player presents an illegal deck after sideboarding, they immediately receive a game loss and sideboarding time would begin as a lead-in for the next game.
END OF ROUND PROCEDURE CHANGE 3/2/21 additional updates below:
The completion of matches is integral to a competitive community’s ability to gather and play events (local, regional, and national in level) in a timely manner. Having an easy-to-understand and not open-to-interpretation set of rules around matches running to and/or past the allotted time limit helps keep things consistent for everyone involved: players, judges, and tournament organizers.
The previously established set of End-of-Round procedures put in place by the game’s original creator and thus sanctioner of Organized Play, WotC, really seemed to leave the game in a confusing place after the introduction of Titan Masters and the deployment mechanic around them.
That, paired with less than optimally clear language in the ruling itself, has resulted in a situation where one playing party feels slighted all too often in addition to often requiring the presence of multiple judges to confirm any ruling revolving around the End-of-Round aspect of tournament play.
In accordance with what has seemed a pressing need for too long, the Alpha Trion series of tournaments and the ATP contributors have decided on a change for how End-of-Round or End-of-Time-in-Round rules work for the events we run for the Transformers TCG. They are as follows:
END OF ROUND PROCEDURE CHANGE 2/11/2022:
Were making the Current changes based off players experience in the last year events. Players provided the feedback they would like to complete their turns during end of game procedures. After many discussions we decided this would be the best way to attempt to fulfill those wants from the game. This also gives players a fair amount of turns in a given game to end on. We are always looking to find ways for competitive matches to be complete in a fair manner, we are hopeful this new set of rules will accomplish that.
When the end of the allotted time for the round is called, all gameplay ceases. Players do not untap, nor finish any attacks of any turn they are on, nor does their opponent take any turns past the present one.
DURING GAME 2:
DURING GAME 3:
BETWEEN GAME 2 & 3 or in time at the end of game 2:
With all that being said, The Alpha Trion Protocols has decided to move the Time in Round to 75 minutes. We believe an additional 15 minutes should be all the time players need to complete 3 games in any given format we may have. We want all players to feel they have been heard, We hope that players wanting untimed understand why this can not be, and that 75 mins grants them the ability to complete all matches moving forward. ALL ONE DAY EVENTS WILL REMAIN 60 MINUTES (with the exception of primus 1v1 staying at 40 mins) - this will only Change for the Monthly Events. We can not change the One Day event Time frames.
Thank you again to this wonderful Community. Happy 2 years of the Webcam Era Events! I cant believe the amount of minutes we have all spent together in the past 2 years to have never been able to have the pleasure of sitting across from you in person and playing the game we all love.

The Alpha Trion Protocols has now been running online events for 2 years. It's honestly remarkable to even consider the Community is still wanting to play TF TCG consistently for that time. Yes we have had many players come and go, we've had players who left come back and play again, we have also had brand new players who had never played them before enter our community, learn the game, and win events. This community had been a tight knit group since the beginning of Covid, it evolved from when it started in 2019 as a place for all players to come and receive the greatest amount of information as possible, to a Family of players who genuinely give a shit about how others are doing, we've had kids born, marriages happen, injuries and illnesses that we have all supported one another through. I’m so very proud of everything this Community of players has gone through in the last 2 years.
With each and every month, season, event, that goes by, We reflect on them. We always ask the same question. How can we do better? 2 years ago we did something that we felt was needed for the new way we were forced to play the game via webcam. We added Time in the round. For quite a while this proved to be a very fair time for most of the higher skilled players to manage. This also forced us to eventually update the Side board rules, we then went on to create several new formats (along with players creating Primus on the side). We have always listened and adapted to community wants and needs when we felt it was necessary.
In the middle of Season 5 we began talks again of how to “Fix” endgame procedure. Players didn't like the first version WOTC implemented, players tolerated our change for a bit. So we listed and made changes to put it in a much better position and closer to as fair as possible. However, Players don't like going to time. Now I can understand this sentiment quite well. For the Protocols we had always felt staying at One Hour Clock was fair to many of us that don't always have the Time for much more than that in a Given day. Some of the community has pleaded for “un timed rounds” now that simply is too much to ask for a none Top 8 or better match type. When you're in the Top cut of an event you understand “ok i may need to plan this at a time that i absolutely can give more of a leash too.” There is also far more room to schedule Top Cuts more spaciously since you don't have an entire event waiting for your round ( Ex The april event took 2.5 weeks to complete 5 rounds but the Top 8 alone was 9 days). We want players to be able to schedule rounds and know how much time they absolutely will need to complete their matches and not have a fear of playing for 2 + hours.
We have different sets of rules for both Multiplayer Primus and 1 V 1 Primus
50 card deck only 1 copy of any one given card with the exception of 2 signatures. One Upgrade and one Action may be a copy of up to 3 in your battle deck. Only 1 Mission Stratagem.
50 card deck only 1 copy of any one given card with the exception of 2 signatures. One Upgrade and one Action may be a copy of up to 3 in your battle deck. Only 1 Mission Stratagem.
Multiplayer Primus is played on a very difference access of combat with the inclusion of Player Tiles to help prevent bullying in games. The Other Key difference in the Ban list for each format. Primus 1 V 1 is currently being better evaluated for a more precise ban list and will be updated upon completion.
Check out the Google Slide Doc - This include directions for how to play the format and further details on the Multiplayer Banned and Restricted List.
