Season 5 consisted of 7 events across 4 months. 3 One day events and 4 monthly events. These 8 players achieved the most points in the season through those events!.
Aerialbots, mostly cause it always been a a favorite of mine. it felt good to get a W in the ATP era with one of the Decks I spent so much time and effort creating in ATP 2. oh and uhh #ScrewYourMagrays
Titan One, from a Player and Designers point of view. T1 Accomplishes all the goals we set out for it every event we put on for it.
Well something is going to have the fill the void that is Full Constructed. so maybe Classic will deliver that for the community!
I Believe many of the ATP1 cards could find them selves on our off the ban wagon in T1. Time will tell what the next card will be that's for sure.
I Think several cards will always have the potential to tempt fate. A General rule of Thumb Some cards are held up cause of General Card Pool. That is always growing. Therefore ya never know what could come back to play.
LMC Jetfire! Doubledealer is by far my favorite art however.
This is such a tough choice, But Downfall Protocol slightly edges out Will of the Protocols for me. Offers a Ton of playability in so many decks while still being able to be simply played around as well.
I played against of lot of players in multiple Top Cuts. KingMe and I traded wins in different events, Jedipapa as well. But I think I have to give this one to Smurf. Smurf and I played each other more this season then any previous season, felt like the pairings were destined to have us play this go round.
Honestly this season was filled with many great laughs and a ton of fun on an every day basis with the VSAD Crew. but Pax Unplugged playing games live With Palmer and Cameron. just nothing better to see some old friends and enjoy the game with them.
I think Titan One offers the best of what the game has currently, and seeing more of that would be the best in my opinion!
Thinking off the top of my head, I’m not 100% sure. I think in T1 I could see a world where Rally might need to go back? Take this with a grain of salt as I am just writing this after coming off a brutal loss against Rally! But I think that Rally being able to be paired with a legend character creates a weird dichotomy of non-avoidable untapping that can feel pretty npe to play against. I do think Legend decks themselves can go two-to-two with rally-ariel, but it’s the first thing that comes to mind!
I don’t think it will ever come off, but I would love to see Multi-Mission Gear back out just to see what it looks like now.
Wreck-Gar/Gruesome Legion Hands down! It does so much that not a lot of other characters do in the game. Plus I love him arising into just more dudes.
Favorite battle card I think is Seek and Destroy. Being a green pump for an archetype is very unique, and feels super fun to play when you see it.
The person that comes to mind the most, is definitely Frank. I don’t know how, but I am pretty sure we played each other at least once every event this season! Definitely felt like a rival in my eyes!
Totally a selfish thing to think of, but definitely seeing the VSAD Crew star wars meme on one of the episodes of the protocols. Can’t be beat.
Dreadraiders (Dreadwind/Blackwing, Raider Detour, Raider Hyperdrive) in Junkion, it was competitive and unique (at least in the monthly tournament)
Junkion played with cards don’t normally use, and just seems to bring the game back to a basic level.
Yes, if a season is 4 months long, would like to see 4 different formats (with Primus, Classic, Titan One, Full Con and Junkion to choose from). It forces me to play a different deck each month.
Nothing comes to mind
Nothing comes to mind
I used Autobot Highbrow the most, but I had the most fun building decks with Leader Wreck-Gar.
Knack. It was fun puzzle trying to build a character lineup that could pick up a Knack, and then having the option of your discard pile basically being your hand created a lot of one of battle cards in the deck. I really wanted to use reverse engineer more, so hoping to do that next season.
I am sure there were a few repeat matches throughout the season. Everyone in this group is competitive and fun to play against.
Not my favorite, but most memorable was when I played Knack with Autobot Highbrow’s double reveal, and then had to reshuffle my discard pile with nothing to Knack then. However, I do enjoy watching all the streams and Protocol episodes that are posted, but the commentary during a match is probably the best.
Alpha Trion and his Sturdy friends.
Na the rotation is fine!
Showing off in FullCon/T1. Really to 1 copy per deck. But if we gotta go all the way, then this.
Alpha Trion. I’m a big blue main, so simple natural gravitation.
Will of the Protocols. All around solid card to help dig for an upgrade to play on the same turn, and get it no matter what.
…..I actually won a tournament in the format I like the least, Junkion. 💪🏾
Probably the decklist I won my first event with “Wyatt at his Finest”
T1 hands down.
Classic seems fun. I'm looking forward to that.
Swap Parts just because I have never played with it.
My main man Doubledealer
Particle Beam Cannon
Not Really, although MadSleepy has been giving me the business playtesting for Classic.
Somehow, some way, I’m always brought up in the podcast and it seems like they always bust on me. I have to Clothesline Dan next time I see him. Wyatt will get his at some point. Also probably my most favorite moment was the tilt factor I did to Wyatt with a Tripwire to his Powertrain. It was awesome.
Twin Towers AKA “A Pocketful of Sunshine” AKA Doubledealer/Highbrow/Scourge: This deck is the epitome of midrange. It’s so flexible and capable of playing any role in a given matchup; the split between Secret Actions, Interaction, Pumps, and Card Advantage was unreal to be able to play with–on top of the fact that you’re one of the few decks in the game with a real and effective sideboard plan for your otherwise not-as-advantageous matchups.
This deck singlehandedly put Conversion Engine back on the T1 banlist, and you could argue it’s the reason for Knack heading there as well (i.e. the straw that broke the camel’s back). On top of that, it was so good at using other busted cards to peak efficiency–looking at you End Hostilities and Belligerence. Ultimately, this deck won’t survive the bannings with a similar power level or degree of flexibility, but that’s probably for the best. I’ll never forget you, my sweet!
Primus 1v1. It was just unlike anything else we had seen before. Yes, we should’ve banned Will to Fight leading up to the tournament, but otherwise I think this was a rousing success and something I desperately want to see back on the series!
I think we could see Primus 1v1 do a month-long Open event once a season, potentially. Junkion belongs in the One Day events. I am REALLY looking forward to Classic tourneys, as well.
I'm quite happy with the current Ban-List.
I want to see Tailwind freed in Junkion. I think it’s time.
Doubledealer: I love modality. Charms in MtG, Triple Talent Tactics in YuGiOh, ATP-2 Soundwave–all of ‘em. Doubledealer has incredible modality; he has options within options, and that flexibility gets my mind a-churnin’ in the best way.
Guardian Shell: It’s the little common that could. It dethroned Bashing Shield as the defacto best Armor by FINALLY trading positively into it. The card is an appropriate power level, and it does a lot of things I love–most importantly draws a card.
Each of my matches with Christian Young were wild entertainment-fests full of top-decks and swingy moments. I loved it. You could argue my matches with several other folks were similarly intense, KingMePlease, for example.
In the T1 Open I won with the Twin Towers deck, there was a turn where I flipped Doubledealer to Alt 1 mode with Highbrow in Body mode while my opponent had a character in Legend mode. I flipped and played two pumps off the top: Master of Metallikato and Opportune Offensive. I then played an Energon Axe on Highbrow and an Opportune Offensive from hand for turn. After flips, I ended up swinging for something like 18 ATK, Pierce 9. The game was over on the spot, but I absolutely high-rolled my poor opponent in the worst way.
LMC Megatron (Master version). I had a huge part in playtesting in making him a viable character for ATP-5, so of course I had to try him out this season. Unfortunately, even though I was able to Top 8 with him every time I used him, I don’t think under the current circumstances he’s ready to be major threat to the metagame.
It’s a toss up between Junkion and T1. Junkion I’m the most comfortable with, as the greatly limited options makes creating decks a little easier, and there are enough characters that, given the current banlist, can still shine in that meta. However, T1 does still give the most varied options of different decks and play styles without anyone one of them feeling broken or severely overpowered.
Junkion, for sure. For awhile, it did seem like if you didn’t go 4 Wide, you pretty much lost, but now we’ve seen that 3 Wide decks are more than Sturdy enough to compete. Now if only a certain card would get unbanned, given the nature of the this season’s Junkion finals…
Bitter Half for Junkion (Dreadwing Strat.) Given the current available card pool in Junkion, the lack of direct/move damage mitigation, and the fact that the strat in and of itself does way too much for a supposedly Common card for a character that was arguably already fine in Junkion. Every match I saw that went against it, whether it was blue focused or orange focused, post sideboard it seemed almost unwinnable to go against it. And this is coming from someone who technically won a match against it due to time, but when played out I still ended up losing to it. A close second that comes to mind is Hold the Line for Junkion.
Continuing with Junkion, I honestly think Fight for Position needs to come back to Junkion. I think it’s fair to say that the current Junkion meta is mostly blue focused, and give the above mentioned strat still being legal and having access to cards like Hidden Fortifications and Hold the Line, aggro playstyles I think are finally at a point that they need all the help they can get to keep up with the increasing defensive strategies.
Megatron, Brutal Iconoclast, I just wish he was better or had better support cards/characters to choose from.
Particle Beam Cannon. Even though it is a star card and is limited as to what decks can utilize it, there is no better feeling than equipping this on Megatron (in any of his version) and swinging away for massive damage. And if you are somehow able to get a second one on him, you can pretty much kiss your opponent’s character good bye!
I think he would agree with me, but Frank and I are pretty much always destined to face each other in any tournament we are both a part of. Our games, while heated (in a competitive stance), are always close and fun, with no never any hard feelings afterwards regardless of who won (I’m pretty sure we are about even now after our last encounter, ha ha ha!)
While not a tournament match, the most ish thing I’ve ever done (and haven’t been able to repeat it since), was during a playtesting match I had with Ogar. I was using a version of my much loved Piercescream deck and during one of the turns, knowing Ogar had set a Downfall Protocol, I led with a Wedge Formation, leading me to draw a card and plan one. The planned card: Nitro Booster. The next card I played, knowing that even if DP went off it would still trigger: Field Communicator. After that bonkers play, I’m pretty sure Ogar scooped that game on the spot, as he knew he had no chance of winning that day (sorry man!!)
I enjoyed playing Hot Rod/Impactor/Seaspray. I did well with this team in 2 tournaments, and it was fun to play them and strategize and grow with this team during the season. This team has great synergy with one another.
Titan One has easily been my favorite in season 5. There has been such a large variety of decks to make it into the top 8. This restricted style of play when compared to Full Con has many merits.
I am super excited for the classic format tournament. I am having so much fun playing lots of different decks. Without Legend Mode Characters and Titan Master Characters the game opens up to many more Alt/Bot mode characters being playable.
I would like Grax to be banned from Titan One, DoubleDealer and Snapdragon from classic, and Nitro Boosters and Knack banned from everything but Primus.
First I would like to say an outstanding job with the banlists going into ATP-6. This will really set the formats apart from one another.
My favorite transformer from the set would probably be Ultra Magnus, but I think the two best character cards you guys made were probably Ariel and Highbrow. They are fun to play with and a challenge to play against.
Hunt Down is an awesome card. I haven’t really played any orange/black or blue/black decks yet but you can bet I will surely include that card.
I think to say it was a rivalry I would have to win some matches, but I was able to face Wyatt in a couple of big tournament matches through the season only to come up short.
My favorite moments of the game are playtesting new decks with people on the discord. Ziggy, Ansel, Madsleepy, and others have made time to play with me, and I appreciate that.
Great job making fun cards ATP TEAM! Also, I knacked and revealed an I Still Function. I was then able to pick it off the top of my deck with a guardian shell. Lastly, Christian’s memes.
