What did you play? - Perceptor / Kreb / Xort / Highbrow / Elita One / Rung / Will To Fight
What did you Choose that lineup? - I haven't played Perceptor in an event in an incredibly long time, i really wanted to give some love to the character, and i thought the Will To Fight Pairing with Rung would be a very hard Wall for players to get over. It proved to potentially to much for the format at large seeing as Perceptor was on KO'd once all day.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - I've had some really fun moments from the format thus far, I'm really hoping to correct the ban / restricted list to further contain the problems within 1 v 1 so more can truly enjoy it.
What was your favorite play of the event? - Funny enough it was the plays I didn't make that wee my favorite. Will To Fight was a blow out for a few opponents that forgot its power. Safeguard had never felt so good before in the game, and there were several times that my Characters looked Vulnerable but had the Safegaurd bubble to protect them.
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - With Primus 1 V 1 being a best of 1 format, I think its quite ideal for one day events. i also believe that everything from the Primus Packs did not include cards that focused on a 1 V 1 setting. so now knowing we have the option for that, I believe we can aid the format in a positive manner.
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - Primus Multiplayer is some of the most absolute fun I've ever had playing Transformers TCG, its a very different type of game making allies and enemies and making you enemies allies when needed. The Tiles create quite a good fail safe for extreme bullying. It also allows for some incredibly creative and less threatening decks the time to truly do the things they were designed to do. 1 v 1 and multiplayer are quite different but aside from being allowed to play more cards in multiplayer most decks will be easily portable to try out in a multiplayer game.
Name - Frank
What did you play? - airel, highbrow/xort, perceptor/infintus, rachet heroic spotlight/will to fight
What did you Choose that lineup? - ill this one time ill say this a million times airel is my favorite legend to date sorry magnus even though I love my wreckers a blue shell airel in 1v1 primus or in general she's just such a good character with the heal off her and rachets heals stuff just wouldn't die, give me airel with any line up and ill play test it for days.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - massive yes hoping you do more 1v1 primus I had so much more fun than I'd imagined I would with t1 one being my favorite defiantly a contender for top spot format favorites
What was your favorite play of the event? - I wouldn't say it was a play on my side just will to fight is just insane amount of times opponents forget the negate on non attack damage and safeguard 5 just the feeling of sat there when your opponent loads a character up with +atks and boosts swings for 10+ while undamaged and only flip 2 blues on my defense to take 5 is speechless
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - defiantly yes and bring some more full arts with it awesome format wish I played primus long ago with you guys until now
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - this was my first time playing anything Primus so haven't got anything to compare it to unfortunately but other than it's a awesome format to take part in will be definitely giving standard primus a go
Name - Drew
What did you play? - Rally Bee Cars + Ariel
What did you Choose that lineup? - I love cars, and Rally made my favorite car (Bee) awesome…and being able to add Ariel just makes them really good
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - Overall yes, but I’ll admit that there are a few things that make it frustrating at times
What was your favorite play of the event? - Attacking with my characters in the wrong order, swinging my beefed up bee into safeguard accidentally…basically losing my 4-1 :P
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - For sure, some additional bans wouldn’t hurt either
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - Yes; it is more fun in my opinion, because even though everyone is playing something outrageous there are other people in the game to help keep it in check. It feels way more balanced than 1v1.
Name - Butter
What did you play? - Minumus Ambus/Perceptor w/ Xort/Highbrow w/ Parsec/Captain Impactor
What did you Choose that lineup? - I really like the idea of the Wreckers in general, they've got some sick tribal cards.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - I loved it
What was your favorite play of the event? - I swung for 28 with Perceptor while having 18 Cards in hand.
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - Yes
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - Yes I have, I think they are similar but at the same time different. On the one hand you've got Multiplayer where people are necessarily trying to win, they try to build more fun decks and have a good time. And on the other hand we've made this semi-competitive format where people want to win so they create more "optimized" decks. So long story short multiplayer is a more "fun deck format", 1v1 has a more competitive sense.
Name - MadSleepy (Anthony)
What did you play? - Minumus Ambus, Rung, Bulkhead, Autobot Xort/Sgt Kup
Why did you Choose that lineup? - I had so many ideas and concepts, this one was one of the few I actually was able to complete building. Plus I really wanted to get Rung on Ultra Magnus with the Armor.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - Primus is my favorite format in general because it opens up so many ideas for deck building and the format is not easily solved. I know there needs to be some banning's and possible modifications made to 1v1, but I think since in this game the centerpieces are the transformers, having more of them in your line up is just more fun.
What was your favorite play of the event? - My favorite part was deck building. I still have so many ideas rattling around in my head. Even while I was playing, seeing how my deck played and other peoples ideas got me thinking of more stuff.
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - For sure. I know its very difficult, but as much as I like the 1v1, it would also be cool to have a multi player event where people randomly get paired up, but……that would probably only go 2 rounds. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to the format getting fine tuned.
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - I think they are totally different animals, although its called Primus 1v1, it could almost even get a new name because decks that are viable for multi player are not possible in 1v1. Card interactions are drastically different, and because its only 1v1 certain strategies can be too op. In multiplayer if you come to the table with a nuke, the other 3 players will keep you in check. Not to mention there is no politics in 1v1. But I love variant formats and I think 1v1 could really be very interesting. Maybe even lead to a 2v2 format (hint, hint).
Name - Ansel Cox, aka, Kathoga
What did you play? - Megatron, Brutal Iconoclast/Scourge, Implacable Tracker/ Sky Shadow, Elite Warrior, Sky Shadow Sync, Villainous Spotlight, Persistence. Signatures: Fusion Borer, Reckless Charge
What did you Choose that lineup? - I’m still on a mission to see if I can make LMC Megatron work, and with Sky Shadow currently unbanned in T1, I also wanted to see how he stacks up in the current meta. Spoiler alert: SS still really isn’t good anymore.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - If I’m honest, Primus is my least favorite format, I think mostly because of the stupid shenanigans that can happen that normally couldn’t, and 1v1, while a little fairer, I’m still getting used to.
What was your favorite play of the event? - Using Timeskip to force my opponent into one of my Sky Shadow pieces to force the combine and trigger.
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - Once the necessary banned cards/characters are figured out to try and get 1v1 “balanced” enough for month long play, I could see Primus getting more love.
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - Yes, and while I didn’t feel as attacked as I normally would in multiplayer, I am admittedly still very new to Primus in general to really offer an unbiased opinion.
Name - Christian Young
What did you play? - Fangry/Clobber, Fortress Maximus, Swap Heads
What did you Choose that lineup? - It’s a lineup that features a lot of the most ridiculous cards in the game. Honestly I didn't expect to be good or anything, but I just really wanted to put a clobber on fort max.
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - I think of all the formats I have played, T1, Full Con, and Junk, Primus 1v1 has been the one I have enjoyed the least in the 15-20 games I have played of it or so to be honest. There were a lot of things I did not enjoy about the format.
What was your favorite play of the event? - Being able to swap heads with fortress maximus, then playing an erratic energy grenade on him to swing for 15+trigger, then when he died getting another 2 on the board. It felt great.
Would you like to see Primus get additional
support for future events? - I would not personally. I think the three formats already being supported are good already and doesn’t create format burnout for players and designers. I think if you wanted to have Primus see event level support the banlist would have to be curated and like three times larger. I don’t think it is worth the effort.
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - In my opinion primus 1v1 doesn’t quite compare with the fun of primus multiplayer. Primus Multiplayer getting the extra two players not only cultivates a more fun and oddly political atmosphere to the games, but also without the extra two players 1v1 has a completely different feel. To me primus 1v1 feels so much like full con plus, where you can take any genetically strong full con deck and add a character like ariel, rung, ghost scream, or wreck-gar where it doesn’t necessarily make this super unique deck, it just ups the power level of the deck already.
Name - Smurf
What did you play? - Wave 4 Springer, Sunstone, Drag Strip, Firedrive (E. Axe and Scouting Mission signatures)
What did you Choose that lineup? - Wave 4 Springer is banned in both titan 1 and Junkion and can't stand up to a full con environment without a conversion engine so I knew I was playing springer firedrive. I also had a Sunstorm who I've never played so I went from there
Did you enjoy the 1 v 1 format for primus? - I thought the format was actually pretty fun for the most part and I think with some tweaks to the banned and restricted list the fun can only improve.
What was your favorite play of the event? - Against Devastator I time skipped to get myself one more turn of set up to get a huge steamroll+belligerence springer swing for 24 damage into flamewar and then having 15 or so bleed onto the Davastator
Would you like to see Primus get additional support for future events? - I think the format is perfect for a 1 day event style. With a tweaked ban list and the less top end prize structure encouraging sweet decks rather than full con plus line ups, there is something here.
Have you played multiplayer Primus? If so, how does it feel compared to 1 v 1? - part of the draw to Multiplayer Primus is the political aspect of figuring out who the target is at the table which is lost in 1v1. However, in 1v1 combo and synergy teams get more of a chance to do their thing since you don't have to worry about 3 people ganging up on you.
I played Highbrow/Perceptor/Wreck-Gar
I always end up doing a lot of testing for full con, even though it’s my least favorite format. In my testing I found that the combination of Perceptor and Highbrow opened the most amount of flexibility in terms of best matchups into the expected metagame. I was torn between Ghost Scream and Wreck-Gar, but I am super happy with wreck-gar. He has been amazing every round he was in, except for when I played against Dinobots. Having access to 2 ramping characters and opportunism creates a lot of pressure.
From my swiss matches, I think playing against Jason against his Dinobots round 2 was the most memorable. I have said that Dinobots can compete in Full Con very well with Knack existing and I think he proved it. We agreed to a 90 minute time limit, and before I even got to flip Perceptor back to alt mode he was killed with double never give up. I immediately scooped knowing I needed as much time as I needed into the next games. Game 2 he did the same thing again, but was able to grind out a win shockingly. It was crazy close and I was definitely on absolute focus the whole time. Loved seeing a non double titan/legend deck put me in such a corner.
Full Con is tough, because of the sheer power level of everything it can feel like a really grungy format, especially with what exists there. I think including Alpha Trion and Highbrow as titan masters was perfect for the format, as I think the best thing for full con would be the inclusion of more body mode characters. I also would like to see the ban lists between T1 and Full Con differ more, as currently the same battle cards are legal for both T1 and Full Con, and I feel like I would like to see more restrictions on one end to differentiate it more.
This is a tough question, as I think the current 3 formats are great. Obviously Titan One is the favorite and most well-loved format for good reason. I can’t think of anything in terms of new formats that could be supported. One thing that I think would be great to see would be a “Bounty” system for some one day events, where if you beat a specific player, trigger a fun combo (Overwhelming Advantage), or some other prerequisite you get an additional fun prize. I think that would be great and might have more community involvement than a new format would.
The Same two things I have been hopeful for the past few months! An increase in the community is the main one. I feel like ATP has done really well on this lately, as we have had a lot of new players join the discord/tournament series. Also the amount of just content from the content creators has grown in quality and consistency which has been awesome to be apart of. I expect a lot of great things from that angle. And then the second thing that I hope for, that more people will pick up and bring Seekers to events! You know who you all are, don’t be afraid, give them a shot! #SeekerGangRiseUp
Alpha Trion / Soviergn / Hibrow / Xort / Huffer
This decks synergy is off the charts, AT does a lot for 14 stars like many big boys before him. He feels incredibly similar to a Galaxy prime in the grand scheme of it all, it had been forever since i played a true big boy blue deck, so i decided this was the best time to do it.
Honestly i had several great interactions and Trion flips that were memorable. However, i cant fathom the last time Armed Hovercraft and Marksmanship felt soo good. KOing a character with one of those 2 cards happened more then once throughout the event.
Full Constructed is a format ive not been a fan of since Wave 5 was printed. I believe we have made large impacts to the format with ATP 5 for the first time in a very very long time. however, with only having one event with the format this season it will be hard to know if everything was for better or worse, but the one thing i can say for certain is it was quite different from the last!
I think Titan one does a remarkable job of creating a ton of exciting decks that all have the ability to win in a given month. what I may be interested in trying a format that did not allow for Body mode characters or Legend mode characters. I believe this would give birth to a ton of Traits matter decks and it would be very interesting to see what would rise to the top under those restrictions.
For the community we've built to continue to thrive. We have seen a true influx of new players this season. Were adding to our Content team, we still have the mindset to print 3 sets this year, and just so many positive things have happened this past year that im only excited to see exactly what this year brings for us and the community we do it all for!
Rodimus Prime deck with Alpha Trion/Xort and Huffer.
I really wanted to play something orange-heavy as aggro is my preferred archetype. I tried a lot of different ideas, like Minimus/Impactor for example, but I found that the only way to be viable in the Full Constructed meta was to have at least 2 characters that could survive multiple hits then become another character and take another hit before completely dying. I saw people playing the mixed pip Sturdy Bois deck and noticed that Alpha Trion’s body mode ability made for some really powerful swings even without a high concentration of orange pips, so I thought that might be a good place to start. Christian had a list for the lineup already and he graciously shared it with me, so I just tweaked it to be a little more fitting to my play style and went right into the event with it with barely any testing.
Probably the most memorable match in Swiss was the 5th round. I played against KingMePlease and he had a lineup similar to mine, but with even more sturdy and more synergy. It was an extremely fun match and I was very surprised that I got lucky enough to pull out the win against a player I highly respect.
I just would like to see more diversity in the options for viable decks, but I have no idea how that could be achieved.
I don’t think I have anything that I could bring to the table here.
I just want the community to thrive so I can continue playing this awesome game with so many great friends.
Alpha Trion + Sovereign, Autobot Highbrow + Autobot Xort, Huffer (Snapdragon on the sideboard)
An all sturdy lineup is an easy answer to one of the better characters in the format (Horri-bull) but the +2 attack from Alpha Trion pushes your character efficiency way over the top. Plus you get Highbrow’s extra benefit from Will of the Protocols and Knack.
Having Highbrow survive a 20 strength attack from Perceptor due to 9 defense (with help from Despite Any Difficulty) was pretty awesome
Alpha Trion’s +2 attack is too good. I’d like to see him and Perceptor controlled in some fashion
I’ve always been much more interested in a “no rares/SRTs” format than I am in Junkion. You can keep the Titan One restrictions on bot lineups if you’re worried about Sky Shadow/Horri-bull or Fangry/Horri-bull/Quake.
Knack to be banned. A few more strategems to make older Transformers playable as there’s definite power creep, especially in ATP-4 and 5. Volcanicus winning the Primus event.
Alpha Trion + Sovereign, Autobot Highbrow + Autobot Xort, Huffer (Snapdragon on the sideboard)
Wanted to see how AT with Highbrow would perform in full con after playing it in Titan 1.
All were great to be honest!
with the addition of Highbrow, Showing off seems to make it’s most impressive showing yet, but it may be too much advantage that no other deck may be able to keep up with. I’m a fan of cards going to 1. So I could see this being at least limited.
None really. A fan of all the current,
Continuous great support overall. Keep it up!
Alpha Trion w/ Sovereign /Huffer/Highbrow w/ Xort
It felt like the strongest deck (both in defense and attack) and I hadn’t used Alpha Trion before.
It seemed like I played a number of other Alpha Trion matches. Ogar’s match was the latest and having both of his guys live on one was unfortunately memorable :).
It seems solid the way it is.
Just throwing things out which I have never tried or considered, but since asking: a tribes match (wreckers, cars, planes, etc…), a new junk format that includes uncommon cards, some type of team set up 3v3 or 2v2, a restricted character star format (for example two 6 star or less characters with one 13 star or more character), or even a draft format where you draft your characters prior to the event and have to build your deck based on that (similar to the old Turbo? format)
More unique and new skills introduced to the game, like what has been done with Legend Mode characters or how Sturdy was created. I like where ATP6 is headed. Keep up the great work ATP team!
Perceptor/Highbrow/Wreck-Gar
Mercenaries are one of my favorite archetypes to play and Wreck-Gar has quickly become my personal favorites due to his great ability and the diversity of battle cards he opens up. Add that to the fact that both he and Perceptor are quickly scalable, it just makes this deck a lot of fun to play.
I think it was my Round 4 match where I was able to get both Wreck-Gar and Perceptor up to 15 base attack. I just remember swinging for huge numbers with a big smile on my face. But honestly all my games vs. Sturdy Boys were very close and usually decided by just a few hit points. Close games = fun
I think FullCon needs to have a longer time limit. Almost all my matches were decided by time rather than by KO and I don’t feel that this fits the spirit of the game. FullCon is a lot more involved, with more characters, and imho deserves a 75min time limit per match.
Maybe an event with more *’s per team other than Primus. I want to play 1v1 with 2 big boys and a handful of little guys with a tuned deck. Maybe 35 *’s? Not sure - someone else has probably thought this through more than I have.
I’d like to see the community grow in size. The ATP team has worked themselves to the bone providing awesome content for us all and I just think everyone deserves a chance to immerse themselves in it. And even though I’m a G1 guy I’d love to see some BEAST support!
Airel,highbrow/xort,preceptor/parsec SB jazz/strat
Honestly I love blue decks and atp just keeps making them thrive Airel has become one of my favorite legend characters to date now, my first option was the sturdy boys but felt like there was going to be a heavy presence from them so wanted to play something different ultimately I wanted to play Superion just forgot the new ban list was in effect and mag Ray was no where to be seen a day after I sent my list to Dan and was to late to change lo .
This is a hard one all my matches played where on top form getting paired against the top 3 as I call them because I don't think there is a event I haven't been paired against Christian, wyatt,or ansel and they always play incredible well, me and ansel always laugh saying " here we go again" lol,but even with that I'd have to say my match against nano legend scream fangry/infintus horri/grax seeing one of his matches previously I though this was a no win for me and no possibility going to top 8...I was so wrong having confidence in a blue shell that I'm more none for need to take some advice from myself and just play it through with more confidence going with a 2-0 win,to all my Swiss match ups was outstanding games, on a added note my top 8 rematch against Christian was the closes games we have had to date was a incredible set of games for me to go out on,
None other than keep what your doing I mostly prefer t1 but feels like with the changes from ban lists t1 lists can compete with the big boys in full con and I actually like that.
So I'm very open to all fan created sets I've played most, ive seen but haven't played (ark) unicron raid? I think it's called basically a one tall character essentially that can compete with a 25* line up I think the format is a more aimed at casual that event based but curious what atp can do with something like it ( I can get more details on what exactly I'm talking about lol )
I would love to see from the bottom built a atp combiner what you guys have done from a simple character/strat with menasur/superion along with battle card support is incredible I'd be curious to see what you guys could come up with, and motorcycles in any shape or form, overall just playing more games with a outstanding community
