Wyatt at his finest, Highbrow//Grax, Doubledealer and Scourge
I went with what I was most comfortable with. I was really trying to win one of these Tourneys. I feel like Doubledoots has a pretty good matchup vs the majority of the field.
I’m indifferent, I will just play whatever the card gods allow us to play.
Hell yeah Brother.
Heralds right off the bat inspired by Smurf. I have a few lists that I have been brewing. I will test them out to see what works. I'm interested to see if OPBL can hold his own versus the newer cards.
- Elita Works: Ariel, Wheeljack + It Works!, Powertrain + Strat, Heroic Spotlight SB: Doubledealer
I was almost dead set on playing Elita Rally because I wanted to prove to myself that when playing a strong deck rather than a smurf tier one I could do well in an event. The King of the hill Night before the event I audibled to an Elita It Works! Variant instead because you still get to play a similar aggressive, untap driven game plan that can high roll to force enemy arises turn 1 as Rally but you also get a clean sideboard into double dealer making the legend match up event better.
Very Happy with them so far. Playtesting without knack, belli, and hostilities the past month or so has been a breath of fresh air and it's for the best they are gone.
Very much so.
I played 4-wide Seekers with Thundercracker/Thrust/Dirge/Skywarp
I went into ATP-5 really excited to test this lineup for seekers, as it was the first time a seeker deck wouldn’t have a centerpiece character and could go this wide. I played it in the first event of the season, got 2nd place, and wanted to show again that this deck has tons of legs.
I think the banlist changes are excellent. In terms of the format, I think this will greatly diversify the character lineups and battle decks, as I was seeing just how much knack focused decks started to look very similarly from each other, and the play patterns of created a lot of “Play the same card” from the scrap type of plays. Belligerence and End Hostilities seeing them go is great, I really am not a fan of those cards myself. I think in terms of my deck how its affected by the banlist, I think it gets even better, solidifying itself as one of the only decks in the format that gets scrap pile recursion. Excellently boosts this already strong list.
I am! I appreciate that it takes a lot of the principles of T1 by creating a less power strained format. I think Being able to just focus on just bot and alt mode characters opens up a lot of old battle cards like marksmanship to see more play at multiple copies.
To be honest I am not 100% sure, I have 3 decks in mind I am most excited to build and try. Seekers (Duh), Heralds with the ATP-5 Galvatron, and Major Shockwave. (Went for 5 straight wins on KOTH night last week!)
4 Wide Orion Pax aggro with Down but not out and the Off-road patrol!
I chose this lineup for four primary reasons: The first is that the deck is really, really good into Legend mode characters; most of them are easily within reach to be one-shot after they Arise by any character on my team. The second is that this deck is insanely good at going second; it’s called “Build-a-Brave” because the only character without stealth is one that Arises to make your team perform as though it’s 5-Wide instead of 4-Wide, which often means you’ll get a turn pre-wheel with multiple attacks.
The third reason I played this deck was that I saw a ticking up of copies of Never Give Up, paired with Knack, in the metagame. Having stealth on a bunch of my characters who were naturally going to be untapped help me largely blank that card in most game states. The fourth reason is that, while I wanted to play a more traditionally-orange aggressive deck in the expected metagame, I didn’t want to sacrifice having enough cards in hand to feel like I could play my cards optimally throughout the game. This deck stays flush with cards in hand almost all the time.
Absolutely; my favorite character ATP has ever done is Soundwave, Intelligence Coordinator from ATP-2, and he looks to be a renewed powerhouse in that format!
I have a hilariously medium Galaxy Prime/Ratchet/Nightflight deck I have been wanting to try. I’ll probably assemble that, some combination of Soundwave with Flamewar and her strat–Rough and Tumble–and a third character, or Unbreachable.
I played Dinobots in a blue shell with ATP-5 Grimlock
I am trying to play a deck with a new set of characters every/every other tournament. This is my first real season playing this game so I have missed out on a lot. Dinobots have some cool stratagems and unique play with I Still Function.
I like a lot of the changes. Knack seemed cool when it first came out but it has created a negative player experience for my opponents and myself. I hope it gets banned from full con too.
I hope someday ATP will commission all the art and just fully rework all the titanmaster heads (including WoTC ones).
ALSO, wave 5 cards have become increasingly difficult to buy and are prohibitively expensive to new players in my opinion. So, in a way the less wave 5 the better for newer players.
I hope the design team will consider banning doubledealer and snapdragon from classic. I feel they were created to deal with things in a stronger format with stronger characters.
CLASSIC HYPE!!! Yes super excited.
I have built and tested Dinobots, Wreckers with Wheeljack, Wreckers with Whirl, and soon to try out Insecticons and maybe Seekers and Metroplex.
Rally Bee is such a fun character to play because of the automatic untap from the stratagem, as well as his built-in ability to boost his attack and defense when he’s the last character left alive, so I knew I wanted to play him if possible.
My original idea was to go with a lineup that was all cars, but in the current meta it’s really difficult to be competitive without a Legend or Titan Master character.
Since Rally Bee heals and Elita heals after she Arises, that seemed like good synergy. Then Ratchet plays into the healing shenanigans perfectly, so it all just makes sense.
On the one hand, I’m always a bit sad when I lose a card I like, but on the other hand, modifying the card pool to keep the meta open is extremely important. A good example is Peace Through Tyranny - I’m an aggro player, so it was painful to lose the 3 double oranges, but losing the card not only opened up the meta by allowing some decks to be playable that weren’t when PTT was a threat, it also made deck building more interesting because there were more choices to make when that auto-include three-of was removed. For this reason, I look forward to the new meta and the new deck building choices that will open up.
I think it’s a great idea to keep a wide variety of formats so that nothing ever feels stale, and Classic feels like a great middle ground between the high powered formats and Junkion.
While Titan One doesn’t quite have the same power level as Full Constructed, it’s still got a lot of characters that are extremely strong and have to be built around. Similar to the ban list changes I talked about in the last question, this new format presents a new set of deck building options.
The first thing I’m interested in is Heralds. I think they’re a really fun archetype and I’m curious to see if Classic will give them the home that they haven’t really found in the other formats.
Apeface Midrange.... uhhh what? JK JK. Seekers!!! I mean Seeker Jetfire with Ratchet and Seaspray.
During this seasons Titan one events I've played in 3 of the 4 (ExtraLife Host Bay Bay) and in all of them I've played a different version of "Blue Peirce Burn". LMC Jetfire is the biggest legend we've made and he is truly a ton of fun and brought back memories of Captain Jetfire in a big way. Just a Big Ole plane that has sweet interaction with upgrades and lots of burn, just a ton of fun, and it fits my style incredibly well.
I'm on record talking about this on the latest Protocols cast. However, I truly am excited to see how the players adapt as they realize the doors that open from the removal of all the cards in the latest banning's. I have a good idea of how Titan one shapes out, however Full Constructed was shaken to the core. That is the real excitement to see what were all going to do in that format now.
Honestly as a Player and Designer, the hatred I possess for Titan Masters can not be properly expressed. going back to a format without them, has me nothing short of exuberant.
The other day I had 4 different sets of characters on my desk and I honestly couldn't decide haha. Wreckers sure make me excited, Darkmount is a personal favorite, and i really hope Rung can find a home in the format.
Minumus Ambus/Bulkhead/Captain Impactor w/Strat and Heroic Spotlight
I love the Wreckers and I've been messing with this specific line up for months.
They are some really big changes but they're needed so I'm excited.
Is Cosmos the best spaceship in the game? Yes
I take you to the last question *coughs* Cosmos *coughs*
