ATP 7 Review Beta Updates

ATP - 7 Beta Updates 12/08/022

Captain Cannonball

After the first event of Season 7 we took the time to discuss all the cards in the set with the feedback given from all players. Here is a list of Changes occurring today!

Captain Cannonball - from the very beginning CB has had an identity crisis for working within the realm of the Transformers TCG, he is introducing and effect that has never been in the game before with the ability to damage anything given non character card on the battlefield, with this unique ability it comes to the question of how can we bend but not break the rules. Both modes of Captain Cannonball being updated Lets begin with his Alt mode

CB Alt - at the start of the game we will now only do damage to NON Character cards. I really did not like the idea of this hitting combiner teams and 4 wide aggro for “free”

CB Bot - Changed Top and Bounty of the card along with reducing base attack. CB will now Scale with your Damaged cards up to a potential base 7 for having 3 opponents cards that are damaged.

The Long Con

This card wasn't and still may not even be included within the set, however, we added it very late in the game to give CB some incentive to play. The wording on the Strat wasn't even properly utilized and still caused some headaches. It's been properly updated to not be eligible to be abused with Plot actions while still being good with them. The completed side has been updated to a start of turn trigger rather then something you can abuse on you Opponent's turn after they have played out their cards (this is mostly future proofing)

Hound

This 5 Star got a slight buff in the form of a Focus 1.

Minicons

Both Minicons are struggling much like Cannonball for identity. This has been a constant issue throughout the entire testing cycle for them. Well over 6 months now these characters have had some underlying issues about them. I think we have finally found a way to associate them with what they’re meant to be in the game.

Now it will simply be about their cost and what that will become. Both upgrade sides received text updated to enforce a replacement effect upon leaving play to create less confusion amongst rulings. Along with the upgrade stats being reduced. Both Bot modes have been buffed and added effect or a changed effect when deployed.  Twirl took a much larger change to take a stab at something entirely different.

Perceptor Tactical Shhoter

Perceptor is getting Defense boost in bot mode 8 stars remain an enigma in the game outside of LMCs this is a nod to trying to make the 8 star character more appealing.

Sunstreaker NARCISSISTIC WARRIOR

Added a "penalty" that if a card is KO'd instead of scrapped Sunstreaker will now take 1 damage.

Ultra Magnus Overhaul

For a very long time we were attempting to bring back Magnus Armor. While i believe this character will still give you an option to play it, I think it gives you more options overall, and gives us design space to make a new magnus armor in the future if we choose to go that route.

Alt mode Changes - giving 2 stars for armors or an armor and a change to accelerate plot action play.

Bot mode - We know longer have to reveal our entire hand to get an upgrade back simply just scrap a card after we return the Autobot upgrade to our hand.

Trailer Made

Trailer Made received a complete rework removing the Magnus Armor text all together and adding more Bold and Tough along with a +1 atk to Magnus.

All other cards remain untouched

That is it for changes this go round. It's more than expected but most of them are about confirming an identity for these cards and the direction that were  moving the game toward. Most of the changes leaves us freedom moving forward in several different layers of design.  Below you'll find a Gallery with all the cards from ATP 7. as well as the Drop box will be updated (if it isnt already) along with https://atp.teletraan1.net/information in good time. Thank you again for all that have helped thus far in ATP7s completion.

    August Season 6 updates

    Titan One updates

Upon conclusion of the current monthly event 2 cards will be added to the banned list and another card will be suspended for the next 2 events while we collect data on how its removal impacts the various formats.

    Cards being added

     Nitro Boosters

    Brainstorm

    Hold The Line

    Classic Banned List Updates

Cards being added to the Classic Banned List

    Brainstorm

    Hold The Line

    Cordinated Aerial Tactics unbanned

    Why These Updates?

So Titan One and Classic are our primary competitive formats and while Nitro Boosters had been on the watchlist in Titan One for a while we have decided now is the time to remove the card leading up to our 2 year anniversary set as well as future set releases. The legality of Nitro Boosters limits the ability for us to print any character with 3 or less attack points simply due to its existence and interactions with characters at that attack breakpoint. The same can be said about Brainstorm.

Brainstorm has been a card released in the original set of the game that has always been a solid finisher. Back in those times however, Brainstorm had a real cost on your resources since card advantage was much weaker than it is today. In today’s world it isn’t uncommon for a Brainstorm turn to actually go card positive in either value or literal card advantage due to the powerful draw effects that exist in the current game. Because this is a card that is able to be splashed in most decks with little to no cost and will only get stronger as new cards come out, we have decided to ban Brainstorm from these formats

    Temporary Changes

Hold the Line follows the trend of a lot of wave 5 cards in that they really don’t need to have a green pip on them and the fact that they do makes them show up and remove the random elements of a card game too often. Hold the Line in particular is a great tool to have since it can single handedly win you a game by making it impossible for one of your characters to die barring a counterespionage. This in turn hinders wider aggro decks that tend to just fold to the card since they are capped at dealing only 5 to 7 damage on an attack but being unable to survive an attack back against even certain non-aggressive strategies. We have decided to suspend the card rather than ban it however to collect data and see how its removal impacts these wider decks and if it needs to come back or if it will advance from suspended to a banned status.

Were also going to try out an Unban of Coordinated Aerial Tactics, the Aerialbots have fallen off in the much more powerful format as a viable option at all in Titan One, we believe this will be a good time to try the Combiner out in Classic, much like Hold The Line the Aerialbot Stratagem will be monitored and if turns out to be to much for the format well then it will be heading back to the Banned Wagon.

    August Events

August will be the last month of Season 6!  The Monthly event will be Titan One and the One Day Event will be Classic. The One Day event will have 2 planned event dates due to Dan's

Work Schedule, it will be the last confirmed event to Season 6 and it will be played for ExtraLife.

Thank you for reading the updates for our formats and the updates for the events to come! also be on the look out for what else is being added for Season 6! a mini set is being released in just 1 week! (July 31st 2022) a Celebration set for our 2 Year Anniversary.

    June Season 6 updates

    Lost In Research + Rally

Let’s start with the elephant in the room and that is Rally and Lost in Research being removed from multiple formats. Following testing as well as the King of the Hill night hosted last weekend, it became apparent that the Lost in Research decks are not only very powerful across all formats but as people have learned to optimize these strategies, the amount of game actions being taken before a player begins their actual turn results in a negative play pattern for the person sitting across the table as they watch the opponent perform these actions. The attack bonus on top of this, especially in a format like Junkion, means that if you did not set a copy of Hold the Line on your previous turn, one of your characters was dying. The rate at which the deck cycles itself in the Lost in Research strategies meant that this was occurring at least every other turn which is much faster than a player can find the pieces to keep it in check.

Overall we have determined it best to remove Lost in Research from all formats outside of Primus. Rally is being banned in multiple formats as well but for very different reasons. Rally as a deck has always been incredibly powerful giving you a character that gets a free untap as well as a supporting fire effect for the small cost of 11* meant that no other aggro strategy could exist as long as this stratagem remained legal. The pairing with Ariel when legends were introduced only showcased this issue even more since now you had essentially a 43 health 5 wide team with brave, a stop gap, and each character having individually strong stat lines. In terms of power level and to promote deck diversity in aggro strategies we have deemed it best to remove Rally from all formats.

    Mission Update for Titan One

We have decided to implement a 1 mission per team rule to help the idea of mission feeling unique goals you want to achieve instead of a free thing to use a star for. By adding this rule as well you eliminate a deck like the Current Heralds build from existing in Titan one at full power which we have seen in testing as a place that it likely could take over as well. This also opens up design space for us as designers to make more missions in the future without the fear of them stacking together

    Classic

After Heralds dominated the last classic event we decided it best to remove Sharpshooter from the format and in turn unban Settle Some Scores in the hope that seeker line ups can get a power boost to come out of hiding in this format. We considered other cards to be removed from the Heralds strategy but decided sharpshooter to be the biggest culprit since that allowed for their extremely explosive turns more than the other cards. Opportune Offensive being unbanned is a chance to give mercenaries a boost in the format as well as boost pierce strategies that have fallen out of favor in this format as well.

    Junkion

We saw on King of the Hill night that the format still leaned incredibly blue including insecticons feeling pushed into a defensive color as well. To give Aggro and Pierce strategies a bit of a push we are unbanning Fight For Position to help these decks push more damage due to the lack of reckless charge and grenade launcher in this format to put their numbers over the top as well as Hold the Line being a 3 of staple in most competitive main decks adding a cap to these aggressive decks and their damage output already.

    Primus

To put it simply, Rung is being removed from the format due to the pace  at which he slows the game down to for such little investment. In traditional formats an 8* character eats about a third of a teams total star count which doesn’t remain true in a 35* format like Primus 1v1 where games are naturally extended in game length already. Rally  is also being added to the list as well in 1 V 1 Primus.

    Updated Banned Card

    Aerial Superiority

    Junkion: Aerial Superiority is banned

After many testing games from our playtest team to observe the Junkion format leading up to our next monthly tournament we have decided to ban Aerial Superiority in Junkion. The primary reason for this decision is the overwhelming power it brings to the Dreadwing deck in the format. Many strategies from various widths of aggro, combo, and control were tested into the recent version of Dreadwing and almost none of these could compete at a reasonable level to where we could afford to take the deck down a notch.

Other cards that were considered were Inspiring Leadership due to the immense consistency it provides and Bitter Half itself but in the end Aerial Superiority was decided to be removed due to it allowing too much free offensive pressure and defense on the same card making it so the character could reach final boss status much faster than was deemed healthy(mostly on a 20+ health character). After removing this card various decks were able to compete with the strategy to where we feel is appropriate at this time since two-tall strategies after sideboarding should go back to being favored in the match up instead of losing their second character to the collateral damage that hit the board for free. While the deck does remain a powerful strategy in the format still, we believe that the counterplay to the deck that now is opened up leaves the format in a healthier state for the upcoming format.

    This Ban is Effective 05/23/2022.
