Check out the best players of the season and way they enjoyed about season 5 and what they disliked along with some fun stories as well!
Season 5 will have come to an end and with that were back off to exploring new formats and testing the waters as we prepare for Season 6. Lets remove the Titan Masters and the Legends from the mix.
This event was 16 players for Titan One and I went 7-0
DoubleDealer, Autobot Highbrow // Grax, Scourge LMC Megatron in the Board
I thought it was the best deck into everything. I think I made a good call.
I really enjoyed the event, I really liked playing the finals in person that was the coolest thing (Editors Note - This was pretty epic id have to agree! - Dan). Format was Titan One my personal favorite, and the banlist is the banlist adapt and overcome.
Well I lose 4 cards that really is a huge hit by no means does it make the deck unplayable. I think you swap out the main board End Hostilities for another DAD, Belligerence for maybe there is ATP 6 card I can slot in. As for Knack that's a tough one. There is really nothing to replace it. I would be looking at maybe Downfall Protocol, Will of the Protocols, and Force Field.

This event was 19 players for Full Constructed
Perceptor / Kreb / Highbrow / Xort / Wreckgar / - LMC Starscream Sideboard
I always end up doing a lot of testing for full con, even though it’s my least favorite format. In my testing I found that the combination of Perceptor and Highbrow opened the most amount of flexibility in terms of best matchups into the expected metagame. I was torn between Ghost Scream and Wreck-Gar, but I am super happy with wreck-gar. He has been amazing every round he was in, except for when I played against Dinobots. Having access to 2 ramping characters and opportunism creates a lot of pressure.
I thought the event was incredibly interesting. In almost every other full con event you expect to see the same few characters in very similar shells, but this was the first time that a full con event went completely in the opposite direction. I really enjoyed having this meta game revolve around certain cores of characters, such as the sturdy decks, or Perceptor highbrow decks. I know one thing people don't like about full con is that versus T1 there are much fewer viable decks. One could argue that Full Con actually is closer representative to a metagame in other TCG's, where there is a clear number of 4-5 really strong meta decks and people have a clear idea of what the meta would be to try and meta call and build a sideboard around. Harder to that in T1, but that's also the strength of T1!
If I were to change something from my deck, it definitely would have been a second copy of belligerence in the mainboard, as well as try to fit a 3rd copy of fusion borer in the list. Fusion borer always enabled a way for my deck to do damage, as I often had to flip Perceptor to alt mode on the first turn he had to attack. I also wish I had at least 1 copy of Camien Crash in the mainboard. I often felt like I needed it in games and new the only thing I got was a sturdy javelin somewhere in my 43 card deck. Another consideration I had would have been putting in a Ready for Action, which potentially adds an extra turn to flip Perceptor, as well as potentially getting another gruesome legion swing in the process. My sideboard was very meh, I only sided into 5 of the 10 cards in the board, granted the stuff I didn't use was for Fangry Bull decks that I never ran into.

This event was 16 players for the first ever 1 V 1 Primus event
Perceptor / Kreb / Xort / Highbrow / Elita One / Rung / Will To Fight
I haven't played Perceptor in an event in an incredibly long time, I really wanted to give some love to the character, and I thought the Will To Fight Pairing with Rung would be a very hard Wall for players to get over. It proved to potentially to much for the format at large seeing as Perceptor was on KO'd once all day.
I thought the event was great, the pacing of Best of 1 format is something I've always enjoyed from other games I've played. We had a wide variety of deck design ideas that truly looked interesting and different from any other metagame. Primus 1 v 1 at its core could look like a Full Con + format but the truth is the layers that and Extra 10 stars can give you is very interesting. The Ban-list need work, honestly the format may need more rule changes as well ( something similar to Titan One possibly ) but as a whole for the first time seeing this format in a competitive nature I think there is a ton of potential here.
Honestly my deck that I played is very unlikely to be Legal in 1 v 1 moving forward, but if I had a do over I would haver played Xort Parsec instead of Kreb so I could have played Heroic Spotlight and had my 3rd nothing to lose in the deck. would have cost me a few Health points but having a 3rd nothing to lose would have been great. Could also include more Self Damaging cards to get more power from Will To Fight.

This event was 13 players for Titan One! We Raised $350 for Toys for Tots!
ATP Aerialbots with Coordinated Aerial Tactics and Heroic Spotlight.
Aerialbots have a nice place in my heart. They have always been one of my favorite decks to play. While Working on ATP2, i played them endlessly and hadn't really wanted to play them in an event because of it. However the time felt right to sleeve them up again to take them into battle!
Titan One is by far my favorite format, The Meta-game is so far and wide that its hard to predict what others will play. So more often then not i like to just play what think till be the most fun for a given event!
Spy Satellite Uplink... cant believe i forgot to register one haha. Id also find away to get a second Heavy-Handed into the list, Card was much better then i thought it would be.

This event was 18 players for Junkion!
Lockdown/Huffer/Bulkhead + Track Record Stratagem
Jempty lent the list, I tweaked it. I also just love Lockdown and that he was playable in some form.
Junkion is my least favorite format of the 3, however the deck I played made me like it a bit better. Partially bias because blue is my thing!
100% should have had 1-2 Energon Slingshots in my list.

This event was 22 players for Titan One!
Highbrow - Grax - Double Dealer - Scourge
A true mixed deck trying to play a pure midrange gameplan with lots of flexibility. The deck preyed on Legend mode strategies from my opponents and could transform after sideboarding to be more aggressive in bad matchups
I loved the meta and the format. I played the deck I did largely as a proof of concept that Conversion Engine couldn't be allowed to stay in the format. I also think Mag Ray in a world where Knack exists is too egregious. Knack is already good enough; Mag Ray has been borderline banworthy for a long time coming. Really happy those have been added to the banlist since.
If I had to pick just one, it would be to cut Opportune Repairs--that card was awful. If I had more cuts available, I'd get rid of the second Reflector Cell and the second Despite Any Difficulty. 6. Also since the 2 Conversion Engine and 1 Mag Ray in my maindeck were banned, I'd replace them with a second Fusion Borer and a third Force Field. I was over 40 cards, so no need for a third replacement piece. For next event? Here's where I'm at with the deck: https://teletraan1.net/decks/69d24d79/post-ban-update-a-pocket-full-of-sunshine-v3

This Event raised over $2100 for ExtraLife! we asked Jon Some Questions about his deck and the event! 15 Players!
Decepticon Jetfire + ATP5 Ratchet + Seaspray
Jetfire is the biggest legend out there. Ratchet keeps him alive. Seaspray is undercosted and gives me a great flipper for the deck. Deck is best in a blue heavy environment and I figured this one would be given the number of big, new ATP5 characters everyone wanted to try out.
The event itself went great. I thought there was an excellent variety of decks in it. As I've said before, Knack, Belligerence and End Hostilities being removed from T1 would make it a better environment.
Fog of War was a no-go as nobody was running Perceptor so it was kind of pointless. It can become Valiant Effort.

As a special thank you to our fans and patrons for supporting the ATP project since its inception nearly a year ago, we are sending out a special thank you. We often hear from the patrons who receive printed sets as tier rewards that they are looking for additional copies of certain cards, as they like to keep more than one deck together at a time. Well, we listened to that feedback and are creating the “Protocols Phase 1” special set to send out to our patrons at those reward tiers. We do not have all the details yet, but the set will contain textless extended art versions some of the most impactful ATP battle cards to date, as well as original copies of them. Some of these Extended Arts will be duplicates of the Season Five top eight prizes (though the set will only contain one EA and one regular version) and some will be uniquely added to this set only.
There will also be alternate art versions of character cards, including a unique Spot Gloss from ATP4 only available in this set!
The purpose of this set is to really give back to this great community who truly supported the Alpha Trion Protocols efforts in 2020 and 2021. We hope that showing off the excellent talents of our designers in creating unique card art variants will help bridge the gap between our casual and competitive fans, showing all the different ways of obtaining these unique prize type items.
We are currently designing the cards to be included in this set, as well as the art and design direction, so more information to come soon, but we hope to have this in the hands of our patrons in the August time frame.
